One of Time magazine's "icons of the century, " Ernesto Che Guevara was born in Argentina and studied medicine. After meeting Fidel Castro in Mexico, he joined the revolutionary forces that overthrew the Batista dictatorship in Cuba. He later led guerrilla missions to Africa and Bolivia, where he was killed by CIA-backed forces.

We again see Darwin preoccupied by the death of another child ("poor Baby") in 1858 when his friends Hooker, Lyell and Huxley were arranging the joint presentation of papers on natural selection written by Darwin and by Alfred Russel Wallace.

There is plenty of ammunition in these letters to shoot down the ridiculous conspiracy theory which claims that Darwin stole the credit for the theory of natural selection from Wallace. The author did a suburb job exchanging ideas that are proven to work and ideas that don't work. In the back of my mind was a garden party of the ruling class I'd seen once where the guests were all dressed like they stepped off the set of Gone with the Wind--Scarlett O'Hara gowns and cutaway coats.
